About Dohyo Data
Dohyo Data tracks the wrestlers, events, results and rankings of American professional sumo, across every league, to make the sport easier to follow.
The site is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any league or promotion.
Wrestlers' facts come from each league's public pages and announcements. Results come from federation archives, published brackets, match lists and recordings of the events. The schedule carries every league's nights and results.
The rankings
The rankings are our own, rated from every documented bout in date order, against anyone, pro nights included. The method page explains how, including what we tested and threw out, so you can argue with it. Changes to how the ratings are weighted happen between events, never during one, and we say what changed.
Sources and notes
- Every result on the site links where it comes from: a league's own pages, an official federation archive or results service, a published bracket or results sheet, a recording of the event, or a press report that names both wrestlers.
- Where a league posts no results for a night, the night is rebuilt from the broadcast, uploads of it and press reports. When no source announces a result but the finishing order leaves only one possibility, the night's page says the bracket forced it, and each night's page says how complete its record is.
- Weights and hometowns are as each league bills them; each profile says where and when.
- A profile lists every documented bout the rankings count, against anyone, each with its source. A bout from while one of its wrestlers was a minor still counts but is not listed. Walkovers and forfeits never count.
- A result reported to us by an athlete is shown on the profile and marked. It does not count until we find it in an archive, and we keep looking.
- A team medal is shown but never counted as one wrestler's result; the bouts inside a team match count like any other.
When we get a fact wrong, tell us and it gets fixed the same day.
